GERIATRIC (SENIORS) EXAM

It is important for everyone to have their eyes examined EVERY YEAR and it's even that much more important for the geriatric population because of the different health conditions which they may have and the more rapid changes that occur to the health of their eyes. In fact, some older patients may have to come in on a more frequent basis such as every 6 months or even every 3 months.

One of the unfortunate side effects of growing older is the weakening of one's health since you are more likely to develop health and vision problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration (ARMD), etc. and these problems can cause a dramatic reduction and/or loss of vision to the point where these patients are classified as partially and/or legally blind.

In our office, we have a doctor who has received special training in the area of Low Vision which is a specialty area of Optometry. This special training allow her to help these patients who are partially and/or legally blind be able to see better and often times, see well enough where they can be more functional and independent as they can once again be able to do the things that they used to do on a daily basis such as cooking, reading, etc.

The office has the latest and most up-to-date equipments which allow the doctor to provide care for the geriatric population either in the office and/or go to the nursing/retirement homes and provide the care there directly to the patients.
